Rock River Valley School

The present Rock River Valley School is a one room brick schoolhouse standing on its original site. It was built in 1881 and has not been altered.
The Johnson Creek Historical Society plans to preserve the history of this one room schoolhouse, as it was a part of the consolidation in 1964 of the Johnson Creek Public School system. The Society feels that we would bring some history to our students and community by having the building placed and used on the grounds of the Johnson Creek School District. The school district has approved relocating the schoolhouse to the current school property. The schoolhouse could be used by the students and the historical society for educational purposes.
The Society is responsible for moving, placing and refurbishing the interior and exterior of the building at the cost of $120,000.00. The Society is looking for donations or sponsorship.
We are looking to raise $70,000.00 to complete the funds needed to move and refurbish the schoolhouse 4 miles to the current school property.
We have reached the point where we can start planning the move.
We can now turn our fundraising attention to refurbishing the schoolhouse once it’s moved. Replacing the roof and repairing the windows, etc.
Thank you for your continued support to the Johnson Creek Historical Society.
